The Rolling Stones have a big helping of studio outtakes coming with the 40th anniversary Tattoo You box set, according to guitarist Ronnie Wood.

But that's not all he's busy working on.

"Me and Mick [Jagger] have done nine new tracks for the re-release of Tattoo You," Wood revealed to The Times. "And me, Rod [Stewart] and Kenny [Jones] have been recording some new Faces music. ... I've had a front-row seat on some amazing rock 'n' roll projects these past couple of weeks. I'm making every day count. Not wasting a moment."

Wood and Stewart have collaborated often over the years since the last time the surviving members of the Faces reunited, but hopes to release new music or tour together have been repeatedly dashed by scheduling conflicts.

The Faces last album, Ooh La La, was released in 1973. The Rolling Stones' Tattoo You arrived in 1981.

After a year in pandemic lockdown, a period during which he also battled cancer for the second time, Wood is thrilled to be busy again with music. He's also planning a tribute album to blues legend Jimmy Reed with former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor. That's due in September.

"I'm well. I'm strong. And I'm adaptable," he said. "But it has taken a lot of fighting, a lot of stamina to get through it."

On the other side of his personal health crisis, Wood says he's eager to get The Rolling Stones back on tour, and he knows Jagger feels the same way.
