The Foo Fighters plan to play in Alaska for the first time ever this week, with two shows in Anchorage (August 17 and 19) and one in Fairbanks (August 20), and as fans gear up to attend, they'll need to be equipped with either proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 48 hours of the event.
This isn't the first time the Foos have implemented this policy during their 26th anniversary tour. They also enforced the same guidelines for their New York City show at Madison Square Garden.
Showing proof of vaccination or a negative test will be something concert goers should get used to in the future. Last week AEG Presents announced it would be implementing these measures at all of its music venues and festivals (including Coachella) beginning October 1. Live Nation quickly followed suit, after first giving artists the choice whether or not to require vaccination and test statuses, and will begin enforcing the mandate on October 4. Live Nation's decision came after Lollapalooza appeared to not only successfully implement the model, but also encourage fans to get vaccinated.
“Twelve percent of fans said Lolla was actually their reason for getting vaccinated – which is a huge number with 400k attendees throughout the weekend,” a spokesperson told NBC News.
