Smiles

Smiles is a 2 year old male Border Collie/Mix who is a staff favorite! He loves to run and play, and deserves a wonderful forever family! Due to his herding tendencies, Smiles can’t go home with small children under 10 or small animals under 30 lbs. Despite this, we know he is going to make someone’s life complete!

Karma

Karma is a 10 month old female Akita/Mix who is as cute as she is furry! This floof would prefer a home without other dogs, but if you decide she’s the one for you, you will quickly realize she is all you need! Come meet her today!

2nd Annual Corgi Derby

Saturday, May 2, 2020

12:00pm – 4:00pm

Pine Bluffs Distilling (322 N Beech Ave – Pine Bluffs, WY 82082)

That’s right, mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Corgi Derby hosted by the Cheyenne Animal Shelter and Pine Bluffs Distilling! Join us on the day of the Kentucky Derby (Saturday, May 2, 2020) for our very own races at Pine Bluffs Distilling (322 North Beech Street – Pine Bluffs, WY, 82082) – with corgis! The corgi winner will receive a very special corgi trophy, plus bragging rights forever!

Due to the popularity of last year’s event, this year we have decided to add even MORE fun to the day! Firstly, we have not only DOUBLED the corgi registration limit, but have also ADDED a mutt round! You read that correctly, that means we are allowing 50 DOGS to participate in this year’s races instead of just 25! And while the mutt round cannot qualify for the ultimate corgi trophy, they do qualify for bragging rights (and perhaps another great prize!)

Secondly, you might want to block out your entire day for this year’s event, because we are adding a Corgi Calcutta beginning at noon the day of the races – complete with an amazing Bloody Mary Bar! The money raised from the Calcutta will be split down the middle – half to the highest bidder and half to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter! If calcuttas aren’t your thing (even Corgi Calcuttas), still feel free to join us for the excitement and have a bloody mary (or two)!

We will also be allowing dog-themed vendors to get in on a piece of the action, so you will be able to browse what our local sellers have to offer to all of your furry friends!

Lastly, we have added a “Millionaire’s Row” to the races! Tickets for this VIP shaded seating area will not only have the best view of the races, but will also score you a free drink! Seating for the Millionaire’s Row is $25, but is extremely limited so reserve your spot now before it’s too late!

Come dressed in your best derby attire (the bigger hat, the better!) Dog costumes are also welcome. Prizes will be given to both humans and furry friends for “Best in Show,” so be sure to bring your “A-Game!” There will also be food trucks for this very special event and drink specials served throughout the day that highlight Pine Bluffs Distilling’s famous spirits! Best of all - $1 from every drink purchased will be donated to the Cheyenne Animal Shelter so be sure to come thirsty!

All (well-behaved and potty trained) dogs are welcome at the distillery on this day! Lawn chairs are also encouraged. Questions? Shoot Cheyenne Animal Shelter Marketing Director, Haylee Chenchar, an email at hchenchar@caswy.org. We will see you at the races
