Cameron Peak Fire receives snow, but it's unlikely to put it out

The Cameron Peak fire received an inch of snow last night and was well received by the firefighters combating the blaze. While this weather system is just moving through, it will certainly help slow down the progress of the burn. Although this is good news the fight is not over, fire spokesperson Paul Bruggink explains, "This will dampen the fire and moisten some fuel loads, which will help. However, that will evaporate and melt off in the next few days and the fire will still be going. This is not what we call a season-ending event. We need a series of these to put this thing out."
