Colton McDonald, a hiker celebrating his 30th birthday, became trapped in the path of the Cameron Peak fire. While on his planned 10-day excursion, he started to notice a growing, white plume of smoke following closely on the horizon behind him. He really knew he was in trouble when the wildlife started to run past as he recounts: “After the first couple of days, I noticed an odd amount of deer, moose, bighorn sheep and lot of birds kind of following me,'' he said, "And so I kind of knew I was in the right area because all of the wildlife was fleeing to where I was, and wildlife knows where to go when there is a fire.'' Colton was safely rescued by helicopter and made it back home. For more info on this story, read here.
