Dave Mustaine Busy Completing New Megadeth Album, 'Rust In Peace' Book

If cancer couldn't keep Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine from working, you wouldn't expect him to relax in quarantine.

Mustaine urged fans to observe social distancing and hygienic guidelines during the coronavirus pandemic. He noted that he's been staying indoors as much as possible over the past two weeks.

"I'm on Day 12 right now, and I've been washing my hands a lot and listening to a lot of Megadeth music, putting the final touches on a new book and working on the new Megadeth album," he explained in a Tuesday update via YouTube. "And looking forward to doing our next tour, once this is all over..."

Mustaine was diagnosed with throat cancer last spring and Megadeth and spent much of the remainder of the year undergoing treatment for the disease. By November, he confirmed he was cancer-free and in January, Megadeth hit the road in Europe with Five Finger Death Punch.

Megadeth is scheduled to tour North America this summer with Lamb of God, but pandemic concerns have that tour, among many others, in doubt.

The book Mustaine referred to is likely his Building the Perfect Beast memoir (due out September 8) focusing on Megadeth's seminal 1990 album, Rust In Peace.

Megadeth has been working on its new album — the follow-up to 2016's Grammy Award-winning album Dystopia — since at least last summer. The album was expected to arrive this year.
