At Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center, their mission is to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social well-being of people with special needs through equine assisted therapy. They have several programs at the ranch focused on enriching the lives of the people they serve.

Their Therapy Services program provides direct medical treatments with licensed Physical and Occupational Therapists in partnership with a horse. The natural gait of the horse stimulates human walking movement in a manner that cannot be replicated mechanically which is beneficial for core strength, balance and flexibility. This program can feed into their Therapeutic Riding program that teaches horsemanship and horseback riding skills to people with physical and cognitive disabilities.

The Veterans program, Hearts & Horses for Heroes, allows service personnel and veterans of every era to heal and ease PTSD, and grow through their interactions with horses, each other, and the natural world. All of this is provided at no cost to them.

Riding in the Moment, another unique program offered at the ranch, is designed to enhance the quality of life for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory loss.

The largest program, Changing Leads, is designed to assist the alarmingly high number of youth at-risk in our community that are having trouble at school, at home, or have experienced some kind of early childhood trauma. They provide these children with a unique opportunity to bond with a horse and learn constructive social-emotional skills while finding friendship and developing trust.

Positive change, and enriching people’s lives is what Hearts & Horses is all about. The smiles seen every day at the ranch tell us that they are contributing to the well-being of these underserved populations in our community.

This is the 20th Annual Event which is a great milestone and reminder of how far Hearts & Horses has come thanks to our community's generosity. But this year's event is also more important than ever due to the financial impact of COVID19 and the temporary closure to keep their participants, volunteers and staff safe. The goal is to raise $350,000 to support the operating budget for 2021 so that they can keep their programs running long into the future.
